Support for Employers

From 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024, the Australian Apprenticeships Incentive System will provide broad support to the economy through wage subsidies for eligible employers in priority occupations. Priority occupations are those listed on the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List.

  • Provide 10% wage subsidy for two years for eligible employers of Australian Apprentices in priority occupations (capped at $1,500 per quarter);
  • A Hiring Incentive will also be available for employers of apprentices undertaking a qualification in an occupation that does not qualify for the Australian Apprenticeships Priority List. Full-time apprentice/trainee – $3,500 ($1,750 after 6 months and $1,750 after 12 months). Part-time apprentice/trainee $875 after 6 months and $875 after 12 months).

 

Support for Apprentices 

  • Training Support Payment – from 1 July 2022 to 30 June 2024, Australian Apprentices training in Priority Occupations can receive assistance of up to $5,000 ($1,250 paid every six months for their first two years), to ensure they are supported to complete their training;
  • Trade Support Loans are available to eligible apprentices to assist with everyday costs while completing your apprenticeship. You can receive up to $22,890 over the life of the apprenticeship (lifetime limit in 2022-23). The year of your apprenticeship determines the amount you may receive. There is no waiting period to claim.
